Tribute Thursday: Audrey Hepburn

Posted on

Years ago I watched “Sabrina” the Audrey Hepburn, William Holden and Humphrey Bogart version. At first it was just another movie and then I watched it again. There were several scenes that stood out to me. The first scene that really caught my attention was the one with Sabrina at the train station with her dog and fancy luggage.

Seeing her all transformed into the beautiful swan had me daydreaming about how I was going to transform myself one day.
Growing up I was more into sports than pretty clothes but deep down inside I always wanted to dress up like my sister and her friends but I just never felt pretty enough. Seeing Sabrina’s transformation in that scene changed the way I view myself and clothes.

The Iconic Suit

My secret love affair of clothes started that very moment. On the outside I kept on the façade of not caring about how I look or what I wear but deep down inside I wanted to wear heels, makeup and pretty dresses but I didn’t want my mom to make a fuss so I just kept on going for my jeans and t-shirts and flip-flops.
I finally broke free when I went to college. It started out with just shoes but now I am completely and utterly obsessed with everything about fashion. One of my many hobbies involves fashion. I draw outfits that I would like to wear and I even try to sew some of them. I make simple outfits for my little girls and I saw pajamas for the whole family. Award season is one of my favorite times of the year and of course I pay attention to the trends coming from fashion week because it is all so exciting and it would be nice to make it to fashion week one day. For now I am going to keep on posting outfits and my favorite fashion icons.

Below are some scenes from Sabrina that will forever take my breathe away. Thank you Givenchy, you were and will always be one of the best.

The one of a kind black cocktail dress

Well, I better get ready for bed. Thank you for stopping by 🙂 My plan is talk about to a “Throw back Thursday” on the many fashion icons who inspire me.

That’s the woman you’re sleeping with???” I asked

~ A coffee house acquaintance of mine is having an affair with a married woman. Initially he didn’t tell me that the woman was married, “Kenneth, I met this incredibly awesome woman and the chemistry between the two of us is electric!” he told me a long time ago. But whenever I’d ask for more details about this ‘incredibly awesome’ woman he would grow silent and give me vague answers.

It wasn’t until he was sitting with me one morning and an older woman sat down with us…..a much older woman. My acquaintance is a bit older than me (he’s in his early forties) and the woman who sat down with us was pushing 70.

Kenneth I’d like you to meet L——” my acquaintance said, “she plays the violin…
