Coming up with a second me date idea wasn’t very difficult for several reasons. You will see why I say that it wasn’t difficult to come up with this idea as you read about it.
As most moms will tell you, eating any meal with our children can be very challenging. I am one of those moms, I rarely sit through a meal without having to remind with my kids to please eat their meal.
I decided to do something nice for myself this weekend, while the kids were visiting their dad. I planned out and cooked a yummy meal, got dressed up and enjoyed a quiet meal alone. The thought of eating alone might seem odd to some but to me it was nice being able to actually eat my meal without interruptions.
I even took pictures of the food I had because I loved how it all came out. I even made a dessert and drank some non-alcoholic grape juice (I gave up alcohol years ago). I was kind of worried about the whole not having anyone to talk to during dinner, so I turned on my Josh Groban radio station on Pandora to cover the lack of sound in the dining room.
So, what did I learn from this experience? I actually learned a few things about myself, the first being that I am starting to like the idea of treating myself better. In the past, I would feel guilty for taking some time just for me. The best part of the dinner for me was that I successfully made an apple soufflé and it came out great :-).
After dinner, I went upstairs and changed into my cowboys pajamas (preparing for tonight’s game against the dead-skins). I pulled out three Hugh Grant movies to watch, and they were “Love Actually”, Notting Hill” and Bridget Jones Diary 2″. The decision was very difficult since I am a big fan of Hugh Grant but I had to go with “Love Actually” because it also has Andrew Lincoln in it.
I didn’t finish watching the movie though because a friend called and we had one of those nice long conversations that was really needed and then I went to bed without cleaning the sink. The OCD side of me was very mad about the dishes but the rebel side of me was like, screw it go to bed they will be there when you wake up.
I will post recipes from my “epic” dinner for one date later during the week.
Thank you for stopping by 🙂
